Parents: Supporting Your Student with Their Career Goals

As the parent of a current or former Gordon student, your partnership is essential to fostering healthy professional development for your student, as well as other students in our community. Here are just a few ways you can be involved.

Encourage your student's professional development & career readiness

Starting to think about career opportunities early on in the Gordon experience is critical to preparing students for professional success post-college. Career and Connection Institute has a number of professional development and career readiness workshops and events (such as the Career & Calling Conference, Graduate Fair, Business & STEM Fair and Job Fair) that introduce students to networking, internships, employment and graduate school opportunities. Learn more about professional development opportunities and workshops ➔

Familiarize yourself with the 4-Year Plan

During their four years at Gordon, we want students to embrace their experience and take advantage of a wealth of opportunities to develop, discover and deepen. Knowing what it takes to prepare for their future career, we have identified key areas for students to focus on during each year at Gordon (including a few to-dos for parents!). Review the 4-Year Plan ➔

Host an internship for a student

We are always excited about new partnerships that expand internship and employment opportunities for our students. We would love to work with you or your organization to provide new opportunities. Learn more about Gordon’s internship program ➔

Get involved with CCI

We have many opportunities for parents throughout the year—from being a resume reviewer or mock interviewer, to participating in industry-specific panels and networking events, to speaking about your own calling and career journey during information sessions.
